The Wales Domestic Abuse Helpline is open to anyone experiencing domestic abuse or concerned about someone they know. This support and social group provides support and friendship for people with a heart condition and their families. The Acorn Christian Foundation, a national organisation, has trained Wrexham Listeners in listening skills. The Listeners are volunteers who have been chosen for their ability to accept and care for people and who are willing to give their time to listen to others. They are not trained counsellors and do not offer advice, they are simply there to listen. You may have problems where further professional help would be appropriate and you may like to consider this if you feel it would help after you have talked with a Listener. The Wrexham Over 50s Forum was formed in 2003 as a result of the Welsh Assembly Government’s Strategy for Older People. With old age come issues around health, housing, poverty, transport, accessibility age discrimination etc. As a result Forums have been set up throughout Wales to address the many issues and concerns that older people have.

The Wrexham Over 50`s Forum has over 560 members throughout the county and have a strong active Committee which regularly engage with organisations and groups which can influence older people services. They are also regularly asked to comment on consultation documents, which affect older people.

Wrexham Tenants Federation (WTF) is the tenant federation that represents and acts on behalf of tenant and resident groups in Wrexham.

Wrexham Voice - Hearing Impaired Forum

Wrexham Voice Hearing Impaired Forum has become the voice of hard of hearing and deafened adults in the County Borough of Wrexham. It is continuing to play an active role in influencing the environment and services they access. Wrexham Voice is also an umbrella organisation for hearing impaired support groups that provide peer support and organise social outings. Wrexham Womens Aid

Wrexham Women’s Aid was set up by women for women and their children who have suffered or who are suffering from physical, mental, sexual and financial abuse.

They operate an open door non-judgemental policy and provide information and practical support.

When needed safe, temporary refuge accommodation is also available. Resettlement support is continued once women have left the refuge.

All women who visit the Drop-In centre can be assured of a warm welcome and a friendly ear. Phone or drop in for a chat. We listen and provide information to enable women to make up her own mind about circumstance in which she finds herself.

Wrexham Young Carers

Provides support for young carers as a result of providing care within their own families for parents/carers or siblings with a disability or mental health problem. There are fortnightly group meetings based on experiences and have four age banded groups. They also provide an outreach based service. Young carers have an opportunity for a short break annually. A number of young carers attend young carer’s festivals during the year which allows them to interact with other young carers.
