Older Peoples Development Officer

In January 2005 a Development Officer was recruited to support and develop the forum and the strategy. The Development Officer brings drive and energy to the forum, supporting the forum and its members.

A programme of improving communication, organisation and planning within the Forum is being undertaken by the Development Officer to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Committee.

The post also has responsibility to proactively establish links with other agencies and groups, identifying issues that affect older people and bringing these issues to the forum for debate.

It is vital that as many older people as possible in the area receive information about issues that affect them and that they have the opportunity to voice their concerns. To make this happen the Development Officer has been given the responsibility to identify forums throughout Wrexham County Borough where older people attend, publicise the forum and its aims and establish new networks for consultation and support. In effect the role is the conduit between agencies, older people in the area and the Over 50`s Forum.

Year on year more links with groups have been made developing an effective network of involvement, consultation and communication with older people across the Wrexham County Borough. Since 2010 the post holder has worked across AVOW and the WCBC.
