Wrexham Area Civic Society – March Meeting

17 Maw 2010

The next meeting of the Wrexham Area Civic Society will take place on Thursday, 18th March 2010. It is entitled "The Welsh Highland Railway, from Caernarfon to Porthmadog". The illustrated talk will be given by Mr George Jones.

This narrow gauge steam powered railway is being rebuilt on the line of the existing railway, and Mr Jones will describe the progress over the last three years. The line is now partially open, from Caernarfon to Bedgelert and it is hoped that the remaining section will open later this year.

George Jones is well known in the Wrexham area for his enthusiasm for steam trains, with his long time connection with the Llangollen Railway, for whom he is their press spokesman.

The meeting will take place at Ty AVOW, 21 Egerton Street, Wrexham commencing at 7.15 pm. Non members are welcome to attend the meeting, admission is free and is open to everyone. The venue is in Wrexham town centre, close to public transport and car parks, is well-heated and has good wheelchair access.
