AVOW Overcoming Barriers

Barriers in the workplace will be overcome as individuals champion the voice of disadvantaged groups whilst on work assignments or on a voluntary placement as they gain skills and experience. AVOW will provide support increasing individuals confidence and skills whilst education employers about the barriers around employing such groups.

AVOW Future Steps

Future Steps will provide tailored support to economically inactive individuals through learning, volunteering opportunities, mentoring and advice sessions with the aim of encouraging steps to be taken towards employment and change in attitudes. The third sector’s profile will be raised through the knowledge gained and promoted by individuals.

Caia Park Partnership Ltd

Caia Park Partnership (CPP) will provide economically inactive people with the skills, confidence and motivation to gain employment or to move on to further education or volunteering opportunities. The Programme will deliver work preparation courses aimed at increasing both interpersonal and general skills. Participants will work towards an OCN Customer Service

Prince’s Trust Get Into Customer Service

Aimed at 16 –25 year olds Get Into offers training to:

  • Develop skills in retail and hospitality
  • Improve teamwork skills
  • Receive six months’ support after the programme to help you find a job

Groundwork North Wales

‘Groundwork’s Gateway to Work’ will work with 168 local economically inactive participants to engage them in a programme of activities designed to move participants closer to the labour market. Volunteering opportunities will be available through existing Groundwork community projects helping to develop participants ‘green’ skills.

Eligibility Criteria: 16+, economically inactive (Not on JSA or ESA), living in Wrexham or Flintshire.

CAIS

CAIS will provide ‘Skills-Active’, a programme of motivational interventions, trading and support to participants who are economically inactive and are either at risk from or have been affected by substance misuse. Services will be delivered from CAIS’s open access facility in Wrexham, where participants will also receive vocational support

This programme is open to anyone 16+ with a NI number who live in the county of Wrexham and who is economically inactive – not in receipt of JSA or ESA.

Business in the Community

Business Action on Homelessness (BAOH) aims to work with business to equip homeless people and those at risk of being homeless (specifically care-leavers, ex-offenders and ex-services) with the skills to gain and sustain employment because we believe that employment is the key route out of homelessness.

  • Remove barriers to participation by raising confidence and motivation for work and improving the generic skills required by employers – communication, team working, problem solving etc
  • Encourage people who are workless to actively seek employment
  • Improve individual skill levels to match those required by employers, including basic skills
  • Ensure that people who live in the most deprived communities benefit.

Tape

A one-year media skills project which aims to use the technical requirements of film and music creation to develop self-esteem in people who have experienced problems with drugs and alcohol, alongside social and workplace skills necessary for the gaining and maintaining of employment and job-related training.
