AVOW provides a payroll service for voluntary and community organisations in Wrexham County Borough and throughout Wales. In addition, a service is provided for people who are in receipt of Direct Payments and Individual Budgets.  We can also provide a payroll service to private sector businesses.

The service is run by AAT-qualified staff.

The service consists of the following elements:

1. A set of standard forms

  • Company information form
  • Timesheet
  • New starters form
  • End of employment form
  • Variation of pay form
  • Hours to be paid form

2. A structured timetable

This gives you dates on which each form must be returned for your preferred payment date.

3. A secure system

We offer a cloud-based secure system to store employees’ HR documents and to record their absences and holidays. It also enables employees and employers to access payslips and reports. (Additional fee will apply for cloud feature).

4. A choice of ways to pay your staff

All the details can be sent to you so that you can pay the correct amounts to each staff member.

Alternatively, you can pay for the whole amount, which will be credited to AVOW’s account, and then your staff can be paid through the BACS system straight into their bank account.

5. Other Services

Payslips can be e-mailed and posted to all staff, however, there is a small additional fee if posting is required.


Income Tax and National Insurance payments will be deducted from your staff members in line with their current documentation. We will provide you of any liabilities due and details of when these need to be paid. All payroll information is sent through real-time information (RTI) to HMRC every pay period.

7. Year End

We will send the necessary year-end submissions to HMRC each year. We will also provide you with your year end payroll reports to assist with your audits/accounting year end requirements.

8. Pensions

  • We can help signpost you with your pension Auto-Enrolment from staging to ongoing re-enrolment requirements
  • Calculate and deduct pensions from salaries.
  • Contribute to NEST and other auto-enrolment compliant pension on your behalf.
