AVOW’s Volunteer Week 2024 Celebrations
Nominate Your Volunteer Superstar Now! – AVOW Celebration Event for Volunteers will take place on Wednesday 5th June from 1pm – 4pm at Gresford Memorial Hall – AVOW Celebration Event for Youth Volunteers (under 25) and Youth Volunteering will take place on Thursday 6th June at Yellow and Blue (YAB) from 5pm – 7pm The AVOW Volunteering Awards 2024 are coordinated by AVOW with the purpose of recognising and celebrating the real difference volunteers make to communities throughout Wrexham County Borough. To qualify for nomination, nominees are required to volunteer for a charity, community group, or a comparable organisation. If you are uncertain about your eligibility, please contact AVOW. All successful volunteers will get a certificate, of which a selection will be invited to an award ceremony. All nominated volunteers will be automatically entered for the special award categories. Don’t worry if your nominee can’t make the ceremony, AVOW’s team will ensure that they are celebrated. We are happy to meet with Volunteers, and share and celebrate with them where ever works for them. Please read all the information below carefully. AVOW believes in celebrating all volunteers. The work that they do every year makes an incredible difference to our community. For Volunteer Week, AVOW will select some volunteers to come, accompanied by their organisation, to an event to celebrate the volunteer. In addition to this, this year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Volunteer Week, we are launching 3 special categories to celebrate volunteers that have truly been Superstar Volunteers. Everyone nominated will be automatically considered for these awards. All volunteers are stars. The AVOW Volunteer Superstar Award is awarded to an individual volunteer whose commitment to voluntary work within the county that has contributed to and enhanced the wellbeing of their community. This can be anything from helping a neighbour, to coming forward in an emergency. It can be being a stalwart of a community group, through to organising and setting up a community group. All volunteers are stars. The AVOW Youth Volunteer Superstar Award is awarded to an individual volunteer whose commitment to voluntary work within the county has inspired others. This can be anything from helping a neighbour, to coming forward in an emergency. It can be being a stalwart of a community group, through to organising and setting up a community group. In honour of the 40th anniversary of Volunteering Week, this year AVOW are awarding a special award for those that have done 40 years (or more!) volunteering. This is distinguished award has been established to acknowledge individuals who have dedicated a large part of their life to making an incredible difference to the communities of Wrexham County. Nominations MUST be received by 12 Midnight on Sunday the 12th May 2024. Finalists will be contacted by AVOW and will be presented during Volunteers Week 3-9 June 2024. All individuals nominated must volunteer in Wrexham or volunteer for a Wrexham based community or not for profit organisation. An independent panel of judges consisting of AVOW staff, trustees and representatives of the voluntary sector will make the final decision on winning entries. AVOW Volunteer Week 2024
