First Minister of Wales as guest speaker for AVOW’s AGM, 2022

The Annual General Meeting of the Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham (AVOW), attended by approximately one hundred members and guests, was held at the Glanrafon Conference Hall, Coleg Cambria, Wrexham on Friday the 23rd of September 2022.

Councillor Peter Howell, Chair of AVOW extended a warm welcome to the Rt Hon Mark Drakeford MS, First Minister of Wales, the guest speaker at the meeting. Also present was Councillor Brian Cameron, Mayor of Wrexham who, on behalf of AVOW, presented certificates to volunteers.

In his speech, the Rt Hon Mark Drakeford MS said, “Here in Wales, nobody works alone: we all have the resources to respond to public needs. By working across boundaries to put resilience into the system and work towards the future together, no organisation is ever working on their own. Your work motivates people to keep on going – so thank you very much indeed for the services you provide.”

AVOW’s Chief Officer (Dawn Roberts-McCabe) and Treasurer (Mervyn Dean) presented the Organisation’s Annual Reports and accounts.

Dawn Roberts-McCabe, Chief Officer of AVOW, said: “AVOW was honoured to have First Minister Mark Drakeford MS as the keynote speaker for our Annual General Meeting: his remarks underlined that the spirit of collaboration flows through all levels to create resilient Welsh communities.”
