The Wauns carnival is a yearly community event, which was founded in 2018.  It brings thousands of people of all ages together, it raises community spirit and gives something fun for people to look forward to. It is currently free entry, and they are hoping to keep it that way, as they appreciate the real world and understand the cost of living is rising. They heavily rely on the help and support of donations, and hold events throughout the year to fundraise for the carnival. They events like Easter bingo, Christmas bingo and last year they had their very first buffet tea with Santa which was a huge success.

They also hold raffle draws, with prizes donated by the community. Previously they have had medium nights, which they are looking into organising again. They try to promote local business with their fundraisers, which is always greatly appreciate and receives fantastic feedback.

One of the easiest ways to support The Wauns Carnival is to sign up to Wrexham’s Community Lottery. Wrexham’s Community allows a supporter to pick a good cause, and to support that cause directly. 60% of the ticket goes directly to that cause, and makes a real difference for them. One of The Wauns Carnival supporters was lucky enough to win one of the smaller prizes of £250. The Community Lottery isn’t just a way of supporting local good causes, but it helps those good causes manage running costs, and can make a real and visible change in your local community. The Wrexham Community Lottery supports many of the local community groups and charities in and around Wrexham County Borough, giving supporters an opportunity to support more than one good cause. Don’t wait, sign up today!

The funds raised go to security on the day,  for a first aiders, licences and insurance. As well as running costs like tickets, posters and signs. The money that has been raised through the Wrexham Community Lottery goes towards making sure that this amazing carnival remains free everyone.

This year, on the Saturday the 10th of August, we are excited to say that there will be dinosaurs. There will also be segways returning to the carnival, the wrestling team, fair rides, live music, Martin & Kita’s discos, Baggy’s Bites, Burger and breakfast bar, Wrexham lager and a huge number of different stalls.

The Wauns carnival would not be possible without the help of volunteers and the support of the community. Building up to the carnival there is a lot of work and organising behind the scenes, so a big thank you to  CLLR Tina Mannering who is a big part of this, together with the Carnival committee. We always look for volunteers on the day, for litter picking and general helpers if you would like to be considered please drop us a message on email to [email protected]

The Wauns Carnival also runs with the help from local business sponsorship. Every year, local businesses sponsor a banner that will be visible around the Wauns Carnival fences. This helps raise some of the much needed funds, and give advertisement for businesses for the six weeks.

The Wauns Carnival are currently looking for stalls, as well as looking for volunteers to book and show an interest.  and if you would like to book a place please don’t hesitate to get in touch through their email address, or through their Facebook page
